About Us
Upstage! Musical
Theatre Workshop makes its home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It offers
unique opportunities for
young performers
ages 4-30 residing in the Twin Cities. Upstage! Musical Theatre
Workshop allows a collaboration of actors who are homeless, autistic,
home-schooled,
and simply in love with theatre to come together and learn skills
and build self-esteem. Its ever-popular Musical Theatre Education Program
consists
of 12 weeks of formal instruction in drama, voice, dance and movement
culminating in a top-notch production of a children’s Operetta
or Musical.
It’s our philosophy
that talented kids thrive in this kind of creative environment. Groups
at our Workshop are kept small in order for each student to get a chance
to work on specific skills. This also allows us to develop and
nurture specific skills and talents unique to every child who walks
into our Workshop and to give him or her a chance to shine.
Since 2004, Upstage
has become the Theatre Home to an ever-growing brood of regulars, from
our Resident Cast to our Junior Cast - and we hope to
keep it that way. After all, expressing oneself through art should
be a safe, comforting thing to do among friends and trusted peers… and
a handful of grownups who seem to “get you” for who you are.
